As local demand starts to drive the automobile market, manufacturers are looking to relocate their manufacturing plants to South China. In recent years, global automobile giants have realised the geographical importance of localising production to avoid high import costs whilst simultaneously capitalising on the ever-growing Chinese market. However, the manufacturers realise this is not the only factor to gain market share,in order to stay competitive, international heavyweights have invested heavily into the research and development of electronic parts to improve not only the performance of their automobiles, but also their safety and navigational equipment.

Needless to say,South China is quickly becoming an automobile electronics manufacturing hub. Since China's entry into the WTO,the auto-parts industry has grown year on year. Indeed, according to the eleventh five-year plan manufacturing capacity is expected to increase by 40% annually. Economic forecasters predict that by 2010,the turnover of the automobile industry will reach 70 billion US dollars. As the government begins to lay the foundations for a thriving auto parts industry in South China, domestic manufacturers, who in the past have lagged behind in this area, will be able to capitalise on this situation and seize greater market share.

Indeed, there will be a series of learning forums running alongside the event that will give buyers, government officials, automotive manufacturers and suppliers the opportunity to network and discuss some of the latest trends in sophisticated high performance automobiles.

China's Society of Automobile Engineers, which is comprised of voluntary automotive, scientific & technical personnel, will run a variety of workshops including China Automotive Factory Plan,Design & Equipment Manufacture International Forum & SAE-China Equipment Committee Inaugural Meeting that will give buyers and suppliers the opportunity to find key solutions to their problem.
Market leaders in automobile industry, such as Shanghai Automobile Industry Group,Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co.,Ltd,China FAW Group Corporation,The Fourth Design and Research Institute,MMI Planning & Engineering Institute IX,Harbin Hafei Motor Co.,Ltd. have already confirmed their attendance in the forum.

Whilst EDN China, will give engineers the opportunity to discuss key concerns, unveil some of the latest automobile technologies being developed on the factory floor and share their breakthrough research at a one-day conference. Some of the topics scheduled include – vehicle body control, automotive engine control systems, vehicle information entertainment system design and automobile electron development.

Reed Exhibitions, the organisers of the event,is delighted by the enthusiasm and interest from suppliers and buyers. Visitors will also be given the special opportunity to visit some automobile factories in Shenzhen and Guangzhou to allow them to develop firsthand knowledge about this rapidly growing industry. "The exhibition is one of a kind – visitors get the chance to meet the movers and shakers of this booming industry and simultaneously learn about the upcoming trends,so they stay ahead of the play," says Reed Exhibition's Vice President Josephine Lee.
