The four-day expo (29 th August till 1 st September 2006) held at the Shenzhen Exhibition and Convention Centre will bring together top international experts under one roof. The inaugural Automotive Electronics China 2006 provides a unique platform for all participators to showcase their concepts and developments, discover new trends and stride into the fastest growing markets in the world. Nicknamed “the factory of the world”, Guangdong province is at the heartland of China's manufacturing boom. Since the 1990s, it has been a driving force behind the country's blistering pace of development. In recent years, it has played a large role in the growth of the Chinese economy. It currently produces around 12% of the country's global manufacturing output. The automotive industry has been critical to the economic growth of this area. As the income level of China's middle class increases exponentially, demand for vehicles is taking off rapidly. During the tenth “Five-year Plan”, the automobile market experienced a phenomenal growth from 2.73 million units in 2001 to 5.92 units in 2005, accounting for 4.3% and 8.7% of the world's auto market respectively. Sensing this shift in the market, many automakers such as Toyota, Renault and Honda have recently built local production plants in South China in an attempt to try keep up with China's huge demand for automobiles. Currently, China has the world's highest sales growth rate for vehicles, and by 2010 it will be the second biggest automotive market, trailing only the United States. In 2005, China is accounted for 23.2% of the total growth for the world's automotive industry. Mr. Zhu Qiangjin, purchasing manager of Valeo Asia Purchasing Office said, “By 2010, low-cost manufacturing countries especially China, will account for 70% of our global purchasing”. "The automotive market in China has seen some exciting growth in the recent years. Therefore, China is a very interesting market for international players like us. We see a great chance of business development into this market, particularly with our lead-free and solderless printed circuit board assembly solutions”, said Mr. George J. Szekely, General Manager, Automation Technology Center of Tyco Electronics Running concurrently with Nepcon South China and Assembly Technology Expo China, the leading electronics manufacturing event and the most comprehensive international assembly technology exhibition respectively, Automotive Electronics China 2006 covers the full spectrum of automotive electronics components manufacturing technology.
